January 1st, [year unknown] was when our founder's great-great-grandfather became a free man. Since then, as descendants, they have been standing on his shoulders, living the dreams he couldn't imagine.

Once her great grandfather realized he no longer was legally bound to his plantation (family) name, he savored the moment and said,
​
"All those who come after me will forever remember this day. Every time they ask you who you are, you will have to say - January, remembering the day I was a free man."
He wrote down the month in his native tongue, and it became their family name.

Generations later, by naming our company Januarie, 1st, we continue the declaration of freedom. Freedom to dream, create, be, and exist boldly in every space we enter.
